How to create a theme
Date: July 31, 2007 03:16PM
The best way is to use the existing files as templates.
************************************************************************************************
VOID INSTRUCTIONS:
Quentin has changed the theme file extension from .CMT to .ZIP so steps 1 & 3 are not necessary.
************************************************************************************************
1) rename theme.cmt to theme.zip unzip it and unzip it
2) modify the files contained inside with your own visual creativity
3) zip them up and rename .zip to .cmt

NOTES: Colors
Date: July 31, 2007 03:34PM
Colors are formatted as r,g,b in decimal values
Example: text_color=255,255,255
This will make the main window's text white (255,255,255 = white)
Example: text_color=0,0,255
This will make the text blue

NOTES: Image file formats
Date: July 31, 2007 03:37PM
As at v0.4b, pCM supports JPG and PNG image files.
pCM will also read TRANSPARENCY data in PNG images.
One such example is the alphabet index popup box. (known in settings.ini as feedback)

NOTES: Screen co-ordinates
Date: July 31, 2007 05:08PM
Parameters such as contact_title_box define the on-screen location of a certain item.
It is measured in pixels and the format is:
start X co-ordinate, start Y co-ordinate, end X co-ordinate, end Y co-ordinate
Example: contact_photo_box=10,10,110,110
This defines a 100x100pixel area, starting 10 pixels down and 10 pixels from the left.
(Just to clarify, it is NOT "start X co-ordinate, start Y co-ordinate, X size, Y size")
The minimum value is (1,1,2,2)
NOTES: Font size
Date: July 31, 2007 05:17PM
This may be obvious, but it's nonetheless important:
"xxxxx_font=" statements define the font size in points (not pixels), not a specific font to be used.
Example: contact_font_header=14,bold
This statement will set the main window's contact font to 14 point and bold

Tvith, In Windows you would open up Windows Explorer, Choose the Tools menu, Folder Options, click the View tab, de-select "Hide extensions for known file types" Click OK until everything is closed out. Now you'll see the .zip and can change it to .cmt.

Have to say...I have had the same problem.
I unzip- modify- re zip and rename with .cmt
Upload the theme to my phone (deleting old theme first, and closing pcm first) than restart pcm.
All I get is white background with standard settings. Not the settings I put into the theme. Where are we going wrong here?
Thanks

I'm guessing your settings.ini file is wrong somewhere. or the images. Maybe you can start start a thread, and attach your theme so other (including myself) can have a look?

Please try:
remove THUMBS.DB before zip and try (hidden file in folder)
When zipping remove links and references to HIDDEN FILES AND SYSTEM FILES
Make no COMPRESSION when zipping.
This might work - please report back...
A final solution that works for sure:
1 Take a theme zip and open files in Photoshop/Notes.
2 Do whatever you want in those files - remember to merge layers
3 Save files back into ZIP or;
4 Drag back into THEME ZIP from folder and accept replacement of file in archive.
USE THEME IN PHONE...

I tried as you mentioned above, but no cigar
(tried it on a mac and on a pc with vista)
ON PC
1. I copied the file to my computer
2. changed the name to XXXXXX.zip
3. unzipped the folder
4. changed the settings.ini
5. saved the settings.ini
6. zipped the folder
7. changed the name back to xxxxxx.cmt
8. sent to the phone,
9. renamed it to theme
white screen
ON MAC
1-5 same as above
6. right clicked on folder and said creat archive
7. renamed the .zip to .cmt
8-9 same as above...
still white screen.
Also I didn't find a thumbs.db file anywhere.
Are there zip settings I am not aware of that I need to change to make this work?
PS I stopped pcm before changing the theme and I tested the original theme, it works...all I'm changing from the darkglass theme is the string contact_description_box= as stated in another thread by Paul
Thanks,
L

sure your file are at the root of the zip? (no directory)
Re: How to create a theme

Dont zip
Just keep the ZIP file open.
Open SETTINGS - change and save. It must be saved directly into the excisting zip file.
Same with image. You take the image from zip. Do all you changes and then drag them back into the zip folder. This works.
Please try once again as I can see you zip the folder. Dont do that.

Responding to Martinhdk's suggestion..... I have tried this and it works. DO NOT unzip the archive, just work from with in, putting new/updated items into the archive.
This DOES work

Thank you everyone...I tried and it works.
On the mac I had to download an app called zipit and then all I did was open it, change the settings file, copy the new settings back into the folder, remove the original one, and close...I'll keep experimenting to get it to work with other apps like stufit, but I now have a way to do it...thanks again,
L

The recommendations explain how to change the fonts in the contact screen, but how can i change the fonts on the main screen in the list. I don't just want to change color, but size as well.

Disregard - There must have been a problem with the theme file, others work fine. Sorry!
---------------
Geez, you'd think this would be easy. I downloaded iphone.cmt from another thread, renamed it to iphone.zip and copied it to the dir on the Touch Elf. The ZIP file is okay, shows all of the files inside it (graphics and settings.ini) and I now have an 'iphone' theme when I select themes.
However, nothing changes (I just get the same as the 'White' theme). If I change to Black them, it changes okay.
Anyone solved this?
Simon....

If not I'll happily stick with the black background

Which one of these controls how wide the sensor area on the touch screen is for when you scroll down the left and or right sides of the screen and it gives you the Letters to go to (the large A, B, C etc as you scroll down the screen with your finger).
searchindex.*.indexmargin=10p
searchindex.*.indexletter=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
searchindex.*.indexletter.font=9p,regular,Segoe UI,#ffffff
searchindex.*.rightborder=20p
searchindex.*.leftborder=20p
searchindex.*.indexwidth=20p
searchindex.*.background=fill(#111111)
searchindex.*.marker.background=stretchimage(lbg.png)
searchindex.*.marker.font=10p,bold,Segoe UI,#ffff99
searchindex.*.box=0,0,20p,-30p
searchindex.*.feedback.box=22p,80p,122p,120p
searchindex.*.feedback.font=18p,bold,Segoe UI,#ffff99
searchindex.*.feedback.background=stretchimage(lbg.png),solidborder(#888888,1),margin(3)
I need the right side part to be a little wider as my thumb just cant catch it while normally holding the phone.
Thanks
Glenn V.

is there a way to have to different font styles on the same line in the contact list. I would like to have the first name regular and the lastname bold. I can get the first and last name on there (%firstname %lastname), but I have not been able to find a way to have 2 different styles.
thanks.....Jarrod

Tene,
I noticed you have added some setting to the setting.ini file.
# option panel
label.*.background=none
checkbutton.*.background=none
label.optionspanel.bg.background=$defaultgrad$
button.optionspanel.cancel.box=50%,-39p,100%,100%
button.optionspanel.ok.box=0,-39p,50%,100%
list.optionspanel.list.box=0,0,100%,-39p
label.optionspanel.bg.box=0,-39p,100%,100%
button.optionspanel.ok.background=fillimage(textbg.bmp)
button.optionspanel.cancel.background=fillimage(textbg.bmp)
# checkbutton
checkbutton.*.text.box=30p,2,100%,100%
checkbutton.*.text.box.pressed=30p,2,100%,100%
checkbutton.*.font.pressed=$defaultfont$,left
checkbutton.*.font=12,regular,Segoe UI,#CCCCCC
checkbutton.*.check.background.checked=fill(#C8C8C8),margin(2),outerborder(#C8C8C8,1)
checkbutton.*.check.background.checked.pressed=fill(#C8C8C8),margin(2),outerborder(#C8C8C8,1)
checkbutton.*.check.background=margin(2),outerborder(#C8C8C8,1)");
checkbutton.*.check.background.pressed=margin(2),outerborder(#C8C8C8,1)
checkbutton.*.check.box.pressed=10p,10p,26p,26p
checkbutton.*.check.box=10p,10p,26p,26p
Could these be added to the .lang.ini file. If so which file overrides who. Does the lang.ini override the setting.ini. so if someone puts a theme out there with different setting then I have in the .lang.ini file will my setting override the theme?
Thanks....Jarrod
Re: How to create a theme
Date: January 02, 2008 06:10PM
theme then settings.ini then lang.ini
however, if you make specific customization for you, put it in settings.ini
if it's for localization support, lang.ini
if it's for a theme, well in the theme.
You shouldn't mix everything
