I find that if I press the D-pad then the keyboard actually disappears (it minimizes) so I then have to click on the icon to bring the board back up. Cursor keys would make it much smoother and quicker than the built in D-pad.

Please Tene for next release!

hello,

excellent product!
i just wish it would not open the accents/symbols/umlauts so fast...actually i would prefer it to keep the orginal letter and just open the line with the alternatives. for instance, if i wait until i see the "E" (delay set to 1ms) it is already almost too late to avoid the € sign to appear...

i see 2 alternatives: one: make the delay until symbols open customisable, ( i would go for .5 sec) or, probably even better, and conform to the iphone approach: let the original letter where it is and make select alternative symbols/umlauts/accents by moving over to them.

is there any alternative available? i have to say: i am not a programmer...;-)

cheers,,

Andy.

Hallo Tene
Thank you for your replay and for your very very good program. But ...
Some new devices from HTC (like Artemis, or Cruise) have disable d-pad (typical all device with roll navigation in mouse mode) and on this device is not any possibility movement of cursor (with your keyboard). I very solicit you, can you add at least left and right cursor keys in to your program? Is it big problem?
Wery thanks

Hi,

here is the Danish Keyboard-layout, which is based on the German layout including the associations.

Umm, the first post says that the default for symbol pads is 250ms, which suggests that one can change it... but how?

Use for example symbol_pad_timer=150 in layout or settings.ini file to set it to 150ms.

To set Default to PCMKeyboard as you guided for me:
Start > Setup > Personal > Keyboard > Default = PCMKeyboard

After reseting device, it returns the begining default not PCMKeyboard.

May you guide me the others method?

Thanks

Use this program called SIPChange. This allows it to stick after a soft reset.

Plus One Lil' Suggestion
Posted by: Sir Isaac ()

While studying documentation and discussion on PCM KeyBoard, I still haven't found any explanation or a helpful tip on one particular detail which in fact could be quite useful for further development of this jolly flexible open-source product. What I mean is some easy configuration tool for handling both portrait and landscape layouts within one single skin pack (that would be programmatically switched when PD-screen is toggled).

I believe that many developers would appreciate an opportunity to set two separate layouts for horizontal and vertical screen orientations - at least, for the reason of screen space optimization. For instance, with such a tool one could easily decrease the number of rows (and, subsequently, increase the number of keys in a row) for landscape mode, which would be quite helpful for many languages that have larger alphabets than English.

Even now, an attempt to set a number of keys in a row to 11 instead of 10 (say, to simulate a standard 33-letter Russian keyboard) will cause an inadequate screen representation of the whole thing in landscape mode (left and right keys in rows will not fully fit the screen border). Perhaps, there is some subtle trick to avoid this conflict (the one that I still miss), but, as far as I believe, a strictly declared function always wins over hacking exploits, in a long run smiling smiley

Hope that my suggestion would be of some use for 'tene' or anyone behind the magic mysterious PCM KeyBoard smiling smiley And, of course, thank you for this great job, guys.

Does anybody know how to escape brackets ([]) inside bracket constructions like [1...]? My syntax like
[1\[/b\]]
doesn't seem to work at all..

Why, a large variety of popular tags contain brackets, like simple BBCodes mentioned in my example above. The question is - does PCMK 1.4 support escaping nested brackets and backslash? So, what is your guess, sir? smiling smiley

Ok, now I see your point Sir_Isaac.

Well, it seems that it is not possible with current version of PCMK to obtain for example [/b] in the way you would like to.

I tried to test various syntaxes and it seems that you can obtain only [/b (without closing "]") as each ] is interpreted as end of [1...]. This ] has to be entered manualy if I am not wrong.

To obtain [/b the correct syntax (at least it works on my device) is [1[/b] - hopefully it will be helpful smiling smiley

Oh, thanks for your study, klmn. It seems that now we've come to same results grinning smiley I'm not sure that I should draw Tene's attention to this matter of escaping nested symbols, but here's one little limitation for PCMK layout-makers. Apart from BBCodes and other common tags, even some basic smilies like :-[ or : )] contain bracket(s) and backslashes, let alone manga ones (/_\) ([o]) smiling smiley
